l didn't read book 1 of this series, and didn't feel lost. There is a lot of sadness in this tale, death but also romance, nice mixture.

I enjoyed this couple and felt their anguish because this author writes in such a way you can visualize the story unfolding.

There is lovemaking, mostly outside of marriage, full of passion and 4 out of 5 on heat level. Our h has been trained to hunt and is as good as her brother's in this area. That is the part that has bothered me. The author makes us aware how talented she is, but when she can be of assistance, it is as though she forgot she had this talent. Twice is does this and it almost made me lower a rating. Plus she endangers others near the end of the story. But, I enjoyed the rest so much that I still felt it deserved 5 stars.

The H is honor bound and a good leader, which causes him to put his wants behind him for the sake of the clan and mostly his brother. This made my heart ache, but the way the author wrote it was satisfying. The brother of the H was a very likable character and and I could feel his emotions.

I would recommend this story because it has it all in what a Highland story should be - danger, suspense, intrigue, romance and lovemaking. (ljb)

One look. Sometimes that's all it takes. However, when you are betrothed to someone else nothing can be done. Fergus and Nessia are honorable people and they both love William.

Fergus Mackay arranges a marriage for his younger brother with a neighboring clan to strengthen it. William isn't happy with his older brother but decides that Nessia is not only beautiful outside but beautiful inside. Nessia decides to go through with the weddng to William.

This book takes you on a journey with Fergus and Nessia but also with Fergus' younger sister Freya and of course with William. You will sigh (Fergus is awesome especially when he grovels) and you will be so sad.

I can't wait to continue this series. I hope you will want to continue it also !!!
I've read both books 1&2 of this series and am anxiously awaiting release of book 3! Love this series and cannot wait for book 3, but I have to! I really loved the characters and the storyline of this second book. What a story! Fergus' younger sister is a hot mess, which keeps things moving along with her crazy antics. Her story isn't done yet and am hoping she is book 3. Ferguson and Nessia have such an attraction to each other from the beginning of this book you can feel the pages sizzle! Then there is sweet William, Fergusons' younger brother by four years. He saves Fergus' life in the beginning of the book and it's off and running from there. I really don't want to say too much more, I don't like giving anything away! I recommend this book and can only hope you enjoy it as much ad I did. Cheers! 🍻
I have to admit, I have an addiction to Highlander romances and I was super excited finds new series! New to me anyway.

I went back & forth on loving & liking this one, but as much as there were positives for me, there were negatives.

Some of the heroine's introspections were immature & got to the point where they irritated. They were a tad repetitive.

It did have ups & downs that kept me hooked & needing to know what happened next, and it was easy to read.

I was curious about the other books in the series & did want to check out the stories.

The misunderstanding had me rolling my eyes but I was glad it wasn't drawn out. Also the heroine was so staunch in her resolve but then let's him have sex with her? I didn't like that. Super irritating. Made her a wimp when she started out so tough.

One thing that did bug me was that the book wasn't historically accurate in the fact that she didn't the author didn't mention any strife or issues because she was married to one brother and want to marry the Other one. Back then they would've had to get clearance to do that. Not that it was impossible but it usually was look down upon by "the public." I really like the couple and the story so it didn't bother me a lot but it was conflict that the author could've tapped into and did not.

I am historical romance buff especially Scotland and there were other areas of stuck out to me that the author did not do any research.

The story was interesting, the hero was hot but overall the book was "just okay" for me.
